1. What HitchPilot is
HitchPilot (“we”, “us”) is software for independent trailer rental businesses. Each business that uses it (an “operator”) gets a booking website, e-signed rental agreements, automatic text and email messages, deposit handling and a dashboard. When you rent a trailer through an operator’s site, your rental contract is with that operator, not with HitchPilot. We provide the tools; the operator owns the trailer, sets the prices and terms, and hands you the keys.
2. Renters
When you book, you agree to the operator’s rental agreement shown at checkout, which you sign electronically. You confirm that the information you give (name, phone number, email, driver’s license photo, insurance confirmation, tow-vehicle confirmation) is accurate and yours to give. Your electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten one. Payments are processed by Stripe on behalf of the operator; deposits, late fees and damage charges are set by the operator’s agreement, and HitchPilot only carries them out as the software.
3. Text messages and email
By entering your phone number at checkout you agree to receive transactional text messages about your rental: a booking confirmation, pickup instructions, a return reminder, late notices and receipts. Message frequency depends on your rental. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out and HELP for help; opting out may mean you have to get pickup details from the operator directly. We do not send marketing texts. If an operator has turned on review requests, you may receive one message after a clean return asking for a review; it is optional. Booking confirmations may also be sent to the email address you give.
4. Operators
An operator account is for a real rental business. You are responsible for your listings, prices, rental agreement terms, insurance, taxes, licenses, the condition of your trailers, and for treating renters fairly and lawfully. You may only text or email renters through HitchPilot about their rentals. Card payments run on your own Stripe account under Stripe’s terms; HitchPilot’s fee, when one applies, is described on the pricing page and is taken from the rental charge. Nothing on the pricing page is a guarantee of bookings.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use HitchPilot to break the law, to rent to someone you know is not licensed or insured, to send unwanted messages, or to interfere with the service or other operators. We may suspend accounts that do. Operators can put renters on a do-not-rent list; HitchPilot does not decide who an operator rents to.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep HitchPilot running around the clock but cannot promise uninterrupted service. We may change features, prices for new customers, or these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date, and continued use after that means you accept them.
7. Liability
HitchPilot is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for the condition or availability of any trailer, for an operator’s or renter’s conduct, or for amounts beyond what the operator paid HitchPilot in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
